As many of you know, we are transitioning from a manual sign-in system to an electronic sign-in system at the Senior Center. While we are currently doing both (manually signing in and electronically signing in) the books will be going away eventually. There is a link below to the information sheet that provides more details.
Senior Center Sign-In System Plan (8)
Training sessions on how to sign up for lunch and events at the Senior Center will begin taking place on Tuesday September 8, 2026. I encourage everyone who participates in one of the sessions to bring your phone, tablet or computer to the training session so that you can follow along. Any questions, please reach out. On to the highlights:
Tuesday, September 1st at 11:30 a.m. – Sherry Carlson will be here for our monthly blood pressure screenings. This is a drop-in event. No registration is required.
Thursday, September 4th at 11:15 a.m. – We will have our Thursday Mobility class, however Jen will not be here to lead class. Instead we will follow a mobility workout presented on DVD.
Monday, September 7th – The Haddam Senior Center will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Tuesday, September 8th at 12:30 p.m.– Our first Schedules Plus training session will begin after lunch. The training will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and again I encourage everyone who attends to bring your device of choice so that you can follow along.
Wednesday, September 9th – Bus trip to Hammonasset Beach State Park, with a to-go lunch from Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale in Madison (Attendees are responsible for their own lunch). The bus will leave HES at 11:00 a.m. and return at approximately 3:00 p.m. Sign-up is required, as space is limited.
Thursday, September 10th beginning at 1:00 p.m. – Hearing Wellness Day – Mobile Hearing Solutions of Connecticut will be at the Senior Center for hearing screenings, hearing aid cleanings, counseling, etc. Sign-up is required. Please call or email the Senior Center to reserve a time.
Friday, September 18th at 11:30 a.m. – Stacey Hathaway will be here for our monthly Mini-Spa manicures. Manicures are $20 and sign up is required.
Thursday, September 24th at 12:00 Noon – Our monthly Pizza and a Movie! We will be showing “Song Sung Blue,” a biographical drama about a real-life couple who find unexpected local fame and romance by performing as a Neil Diamond tribute band. We ask for a $5 donation to help cover the cost of the pizza and request signing up so we ensure there’s enough pizza for everyone.
Monday, September 28th at 12:30 p.m. – We will celebrate all of our friends who have September birthdays with a delicious cake made by our very own Carol Liebman!
Monday, September 28th at 1:00 p.m. – Our monthly Book Club will meet to discuss the September title “The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax,” by Dorothy Gilman.
Wishing you all a wonderful end of summer.
