(October 22, 2026) — Killingworth resident Freedom Baird submitted this photo of a bobcat spotted on Route 148 in Killingworth.
Baird writes, “I thought you might be interested to see this photo of a bobcat that strolled across our front yard this morning, cool as a cucumber. I was sitting at my desk and saw something move outside the window. I thought ‘Is that a dog?’ and quietly reached for my phone to take a photo through the window of the front door. The cat stopped to look around for a moment, then walked off into the woods. It was not small, about the size of a 30- or 40-pound dog, I would guess. It was the first time I’ve ever seen one in person. Pretty thrilling.”
