A reminder that the Haddam Seniors Picnic will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Saint Peter Church in Higganum. This event is open to all Seniors in Haddam, Higganum and Haddam Neck.
Haddam Senior Picnic 2026 Updated
The Senior Center will be closed on that day so that all can enjoy the picnic. You can call or stop by the Senior Center or contact Mary Lou Heger to register.

We also will have a Senior Resource Fair at Saint Peter Church on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We have more than thirty vendors committed to this event from a variety of services. It is open to Seniors and caregivers. The Senior Resource Fair is a joint collaboration with Longevity Premier Concierge Nurses, Michelle MacNeil, Realtor with William Raveis Realty, and Haddam Senior and Social Services.
Monday, June 1, 2026 – Our monthly Pizza and a Movie begins at 12:00 Noon. We will be showing “Angels and Demons,” which was also our May Mystery Book Club selection. Please call the Senior Center or sign up before 11:00 a.m. on Monday to reserve your seat. We ask for a $5 donation to help offset the cost of the pizza.
Tuesday, June 2, 2026 – Sherry Carlson will be here from CRAHD for blood pressure screenings beginning at 11:30 a.m. This is a drop-in event, so no sign-up is required. Also, for those who missed her “Tick Talk” earlier this month, the Haddam Senior Center is a collection site for ticks that you may find on yourself. Put it in a plastic bag, bring it to the Senior Center, fill out a form and CRAHD will send out to have the tick tested for a variety of potential diseases. With a more than 40% increase in the number of Emergency Room visits for tick bites this year alone, we are happy to be partnering with CRAHD on this important health initiative.
Tuesday June 9, 2026 – Join us at 12:00 Noon for Lunch and Laughs as we watch “The Best of Jack Benny” videos! Sign up for lunch (by 1:00 p.m. the day before) or bring your own lunch, as we revisit one of the funniest shows on television.
Friday, June 12, 2026 – We’ve got Stacey Hathaway back for our Mini-Spa Manicures beginning at 11:30 a.m. Space is limited, so sign up early. Manicures are $20.
Tuesday, June 16, 2026 – Lunch & Learn with Chris Blancarte, MS RDN from Senior Resources Agency on Aging, who will be here at 12:00 Noon to talk about “Food Smarts Safety.” Again, sign up for lunch or bring your own. Additional details can be found in the attached flyer.
Thursday, June 18, 2026 We are pre-empting Bingo to bring you a very special classical music concert, beginning at 12:30 p.m. We are excited to welcome Pascal Archer and the Adskin Trio to perform for us following our congregate lunch service. This is the third year in a row that we have been treated to wonderful music sponsored by the Candlewood Farm Arts Foundation as part of their outreach to the local community. You don’t want to miss this!
Friday, June 19, 2026 – There will be no T’ai Chi on this day.
Thursday, June 25, 2026 – BINGO! As mentioned above, we are pre-empting our regularly scheduled Bingo for the concert, but never fear, we’ve got it scheduled for the 25th. Bingo starts promptly at 12:45 p.m., and cards are $1.00 each.
Monday, June 29, 2026 – We’ve got back-to-back events! Beginning at 12:30 p.m., we celebrate all of our friends with June birthdays with a delicious cake made by our very own Carol Liebman! Following our birthday celebration, we have our monthly Mystery Book Club at 1:00 p.m. The selection for June is “Bone Canyon,” by Lee Goldberg. This is the second installment in the Eve Ronin series. Books are available at the Senior Center and are on loan from our partners at Brainerd Memorial Library.
Lastly, just a quick update on our electronic sign-in process. We are getting closer! We will have a touch screen monitor installed at the Senior Center next week, and most of the data has been loaded into the new system. We will have training on how to use it, so it will be accessible to everyone. More details to come on this, but I wanted to give you the latest information on where things stand.
