(September 10, 2026) — All of a sudden, September is here. I have three performances that you might be interested in attending. Here’s one way you can tell them apart: There’s one where you can buy food, another one where you can bring food, and finally, one where food is not allowed!
On Thursday, September 17, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., I will be hosting the first ever Klezmer night at The Cannon, 135 Dwight Street in New Haven. I’ll be featuring different members of the Nu Haven Kapelye throughout the evening. The Cannon is a vegan/vegetarian restaurant with a great menu. It’s one of the off the beat hidden gems of New Haven. If you are someone who doesn’t know this place, it’s really worth experiencing.
Then, two days later, on Saturday, September 19, 2026 (which, incidentally, is my birthday) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., I am leading a trio version of the Nu Haven All-Stars in a performance at the East Rock Porchfest. I’ll be playing with Dana Astmann on accordion and Anna Reisman on flute. This performance will be on the porch at 6 Everit Street in New Haven at Bring a lawn chair and a picnic brunch. Also, let’s hope that the weather is good, as it’s a rain or shine event.
Finally, on Sunday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., I will be playing a concert at the New Britain Public Library, 20 High Street in New Britain. The program, organized by pianist John Brighenti, is a deep dive into the music of Rodgers and Hart. It’s great to explore that repertoire and John knows a lot about Rodgers and Hart and shares that information during the concert. The music will be tasty, but, as I mentioned above, you can’t eat food at this one!
