(August 20, 2026) — The Haddam Historical Society is presenting the following events this month:
The Eagle Has Landed
Although summer is almost over you still have time to visit the spectacular garden eagle at the Thankful Arnold House Museum.

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence our master garden volunteer, Diane Gawronski, has created a masterpiece as the focal point of our vegetable garden. The eagle (photo above), made of local natural plant material (except for the yarn), stands tall and proud, a symbol of strength, independence and unity. You can visit anytime from dawn to dusk even if the museum is not open.
America 250 Haddam Scavenger Hunt
Also, there is still time to participate in our America 250 Haddam Scavenger Hunt. Open until August 31, 2026, the hunt will send participants to different locations in town to learn more about Haddam’s role in the American Revolution and those that fought and the sacrifices they made. You can complete the “hunt” at your own pace until the end of the month. Free registration is available online. Once registered clues will be sent to participants. All those who complete the challenge will be eligible for the grand prize drawing. Sign up at www.haddamhistory.org
