(February 19, 2025) — During the recent winter storm, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a total of fourteen calls for emergency services.
On February 15, 2025 crews responded to medical calls on Island Dock Road at 10:05 a.m. and Saybrook Road at 1:20 p.m., and to a motor vehicle accident on Killingworth Road at 4:30 p.m.
On February 16, 2025, HVFC was dispatched to three motor vehicle accidents on Route 9 at 3:20 a.m., 8:20 a.m., and 8:40 a.m. Crews also responded to downed wires and electrical fires on Maple Avenue at 7:00 a.m., Maple Avenue West at 10:10 a.m., and Foot Hills Road at 2:50 p.m. They also responded to a residence on Chamberlain Hill Road for a carbon monoxide detector activation at 12:20 p.m.
On February 17, 2025, crews responded to another downed wires call on Saybrook Road at 3:40 a.m., a vehicle fire on Ponsett Road at 9:20 a.m., and a medical call on Turkey Hill Road at 11:05 a.m.

Additionally, while crews were returning from the downed wires call, HVFC Lieutenant Kris Proto encountered an accident on Killingworth Road where a ladder fell off a box truck and struck a vehicle behind it. The driver was able to self-extricate and was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel. The driver refused additional medical treatment. Connecticut State Police are investigating.
