Killingworth Library Not Opening but Continues Curbside Service

Submitted by Genie Dethloff.

The many questions we’ve received about when the Library building will re-open are certainly heartwarming.  We’re glad to be providing a service that the residents of Killingworth would like to see resume.

The decision on when to open our library building will be based on our ability to meet the detailed guidelines for libraries determined by the State of Connecticut, the characteristics of our building, our staffing levels, and whether or not the virus begins a resurgence within our state.  The limited availability of protective resources (sanitizer, gloves, etc.) continues to be a significant concern. While some libraries may reopen on June 17 as part of the State’s Stage Two reopening plan, Killingworth Library will not open until we have adjusted the environment to make it safe for all and have adequate protective/sanitizing supplies. We do not expect this to happen during the month of June.

We will continue to provide curbside service for the foreseeable future. Until we are ready to open fully, please remember that even though the building is closed, staff members are available to help you!  Staff is on site Monday – Saturday. Call the library at 860-663-2000 or email us: mail@killingworthlibrary.org.
