By Olivia Drake, HVFC Information Officer

(March 11, 2023) — Haddam Volunteer Fire Company recently responded to two motor vehicle accidents.

At 4:35 p.m. on March 6, HVFC responded to a motor vehicle accident on Killingworth Road just south of Soobitsky Road. A driver struck and snapped a utility pole in the northbound lane. The driver was evaluated on scene and refused additional medical treatment.

Firefighters rerouted Killingworth Road traffic through Pokorny and Bartman Road during the incident and the road was completely closed throughout the night while crews worked to repair the broken utility pole and downed wires.

At 2:10 p.m. on March 7, HVFC responded to a motor vehicle accident on Cedar Lake Road. A driver had crashed and rolled a vehicle into a wooded area. The driver was transported to Middlesex Hospital. A dog, who was in the vehicle at the time of the accident, was evaluated on scene and appeared to have no injuries. The dog stayed in the care of firefighters until he was reunited with another family member.

Connecticut State Police are investigating the cause of both accidents.
