(June 30, 2026) — The Haddam Land Trust invites all to its Annual Picnic on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Bamforth Preserve, under the maple trees by the new shed.
At 2:15 p.m., entomologist Dr. Claire Rutledge from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station will lead the group on a walkabout to discuss insects at the Bamforth Preserve. Dr. Rutledge is an expert on the emerald ash borer and other invasive insects. She also shares a wealth of knowledge about the beneficial insects that live in and about the 25 acre Bamforth field.
After the walk, barbecue food and drinks will be supplied. Bring a salad or dessert. Entire families are welcome! Bring chairs. Lawn games such as cornhole and croquet will be available.
Directions:
From Saybrook Road turn onto the south end of Walkley Hill Road. Then quickly left after the Thankful Arnold House onto Hayden Hill Road, then right/straight onto Bamforth Road. The field is on the right. Parking is available by the preserve sign or farther on near the red shed. Rain date is Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
