(May 11, 2026) — Get ready to “Reach Out” and celebrate the sounds of a generation. On June 5, 2026, the rhythmic heartbeat of Detroit arrives on Connecticut shoreline for the Second Annual Motown Extravaganza. Held at the bucolic Parmelee Farm in Killingworth, this free community concert features the legendary Victor G. Washington and the Sweet Soul Revue.
Following the massive success of last year’s inaugural event—which raised nearly $10,000—organizers are aiming to double that impact this year. With an expected attendance of more than 1,500 residents from across the shoreline, the evening serves as a vital fundraiser for Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services.

“This event is about more than just world-class music; it’s about the strength of our community,” says event organizer Eileen Unger. “We are coming together at one of the most beautiful spots in town to ensure that HKYFS can continue its mission of empowering our local youth and strengthening the family unit.”
Event Highlights:
- The Music: Motown’s own Victor G. Washington, endorsed by the Gordy family, will lead the Sweet Soul Revue through a high-energy set of hits from The Temptations, The Four Tops, and more.
- The Atmosphere: Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the open-air pavilion at Parmelee Farm for a night of dancing under the stars.
- Food & Fun: Local food trucks will be on-site offering a variety of refreshments.
- Giving Back: Attendees can participate in a high-interest raffle featuring items from local Shoreline businesses.
- Silent Auction: An adjacent online silent auction will run leading up to and during the event, offering exclusive merchandise and experiences for bidders.
All proceeds from sponsorships—including the local Marvin Gaye Circle business partners—raffle tickets, and auction bids go directly to HKYFS to fund counseling, youth leadership, and prevention programs in the Haddam and Killingworth communities.
