(February 25, 2026) — The following programs and events will take place at Killingworth Library during the month of March, 2026. Our regular programs – Tales for Tots, Love2Sign, Minecraft, Music with Margie, and Surprise Saturday – continue as well. Pre-registration is required for all of these programs. Please visit the Calendar on killingworthlibrary.org or call 860-663-2000 to reserve your spot.

Library Renewal with Stephen Watson – Tuesday, March 3, 2026 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Are you a Tai Chi Wannabe? Join us for our new, monthly Tai Chi class at the Killingworth Library! We have carefully designed this class to promote balance, structural stability, and ease of mind. You can join us whether you’ve had no prior experience or perhaps practiced Tai Chi elsewhere. Each of our practices can be done seated or with the use of an assistive device! We’d like to welcome everyone to the wise world of soft health methods. In our classes, we’ll explore modern methods of balance restoration as we journey through the wonderful wisdom of Asia’s ancient traditions. Each class will offer gentle stretches, self-massage self-care routines, guided energy circulation practices, and a chance to play at the gentle movements famous for their power and poise. Join us in the spirit of play and take the tools home to play every day! This is a free program, but please register ahead of time, as our space is limited.

Math Mania – Tuesday, March 3, 2026 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. There are so many fun games you can play while reinforcing your math skills at the same time. Join Mrs. Fig and other math mania enthusiasts, as this month we celebrate World Wildlife Day with a “Who Would Win?” competition. Learn to compare and find the difference! Suitable for elementary school-age children. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Seuss-a-Palooza – Tuesday, March 3, 2026 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. It’s Read Across America Week – come celebrate Dr. Seuss! Mrs. Fig will read “The Cat in the Hat” and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”. We’ll try some silly Seuss STEM activities, and paint Thing 1 or Thing 2 with forks. Forks??? Yes, forks! Suitable for all family members. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Adult Movie Night – Wednesday, March 4, 2026 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Join us for a free movie viewing! We meet in the adult reading area after the library closes at 6:00. Feel free to bring your own snacks and (covered, non-alcoholic) drinks. Please contact the library or visit the Calendar on our website for this month’s title, and be sure to register to reserve your seat.

Drive-In Movie Night – Thursday, March 5, 2026 6:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Decorate a cardboard box with paper plate wheels and some fancy designs, then bring your “car” to the children’s room for a “drive-in” movie! Sit in your car, enjoy a bag of Smartfood popcorn, and enjoy a storybook film. Please contact the library or visit the Calendar on our website for this month’s title, and please register to reserve your “parking space” (floor seating is available, too).

Tweens Writing – Friday, March 6, 2026 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m. Here’s a chance for tweens (ages 9-12) to write and share their stories with others. This program uses a workshop model, so if you are attending for the first time, stop by the library and pick up the current assignment or bring something you have already written. Space is limited and this program is very popular, so please register in advance.

Pajama Storytime – Tuesday, March 10, 2026 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Come dressed in your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal and blanket. Mrs. Fig will share stories from our favorite authors. This month, she’s reading Dr. Seuss. Readers will be engaged with sound effects, movements, and puppets. Family members of all ages are welcome! Please register in advance, so we know how many friends to expect.

Writers Writing – Fridays, March 13, 2026 and March 27, 2026 1:00 p.m.-2:45 p.m. This adult writing group meets twice a month to share writing assignments that explore different genres such as memoir, personal essay, poetry, and fiction. NOTE: sharing is not required. Shyness and uncertainty are welcome. Please register in advance, even if you have attended this program before.

Squid Dissection for Tweens and Teens – Saturday, March 14, 2026 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Squids are fascinating animals! Come learn about cephalopod anatomy through a detailed dissection led by environmental educator Julie Ainsworth. You’ll also discover how squid eat, move, and change color. Also try writing with a squid’s “pen” and ink! This program is appropriate for children ages 9 and older. The program will be held in the library’s meeting room. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

LEGO STEM Club – Tuesday, March 17, 2026 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Future engineers! Learn to use the STEM steps to success as you solve the problem, plan and create a design, and test your project! Flower Lanterns Craft – Wednesday, March 18, 2026 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The spring solstice is approaching! Light up the end of the long winter months as we create flower lanterns, in celebration of the season to come. Suitable for teens through seniors. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
