(August 4, 2026) — Get ready for a creative start to the new school year! Higganum United Methodist Church invites students entering kindergarten through eighth grade to “Decorate Your New Backpack!” on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Higganum United Methodist Church, 248 Saybrook Road in Higganum.
Students will have the opportunity to personalize their backpacks using a wide variety of fun supplies, including patches, pins, buttons, keychains, beads, pom-poms, fabric markers, stickers, and more. Best of all, no ironing is required. All decorating supplies will be provided.
Participants are also encouraged to bring their own favorite decorations to make their backpacks even more unique. The event features interactive craft stations where children can design, customize and express their creativity before heading back to school.
Free backpacks will be available while supplies last, and light snacks will be provided. While advance registration is recommended, walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 860-345-4622.
