Haddam Senior Center Activities Calendar, January 2025

Submitted by Doreen Staskelunas, Haddam Senior Center Activities Coordinator

(January 3, 2025) — The following programs and events will take place at the Haddam Senior Center during the month of January, 2025:

Monday, January 6, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. – The Haddam Senior Center is thrilled to be a host site for the ‘Senior Resources Agency on Aging’ Listening Session focused on the concerns of older adults and people with disabilities. This will be a Zoom meeting with coffee and refreshments available. We also hope to have our incoming state representative, Renee LaMark Muir joining us for this important discussion. RSVP is not required for this event.

Monday, January 13, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. – Game Day! Come to the Senior Center and play your favorite board game!

Monday, January 20, 2025 – The Senior Center will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Wednesday, January 22, 2025 – We will have our next bus trip to the Peabody Museum in New Haven. The bus will leave Haddam Elementary School promptly at 9:00 a.m. We will stop for lunch on the way back; however the location is still TBD. Watch our FaceBook page or contact Doreen at the Senior Center for updates. Seating for this trip is limited, so don’t delay in signing up if this is something that interests you.

Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 12:00 Noon– Our monthly pizza and a movie will feature the movie “La La Land,” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Gosling plays a struggling jazz pianist and Stone is an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love while pursuing their dreams in Los Angeles.

Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12:00 Noon– Our second hot lunch Friday will feature chicken parmesan, pasta with sauce, veggie medley, roll and butter. Please call or stop by the Senior Center by noon on Thursday January 30, 2025 to reserve this lunch. Late requests cannot be accommodated.

In addition to the above, we continue to serve hot lunch every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 Noon, at a cost of a $3 donation. As with the hot lunch Fridays above, reservations need to be in by 12:00 Noon the previous day. The exception is Thursdays, when the reservation needs to be received at the Senior Center by 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, as we are closed on Wednesdays. New Form 5’s also will be required for the 2025 new year and are available at the Senior Center and on the Town of Haddam website. They do not need to be completed by January 1st and can be filled out throughout the month.

We also have Bingo on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, Mahjongg every Monday, Thursday and Friday, and Mobility every Thursday. Check the calendar for specific times. We are always looking to add additional events to the calendar, so stay tuned for updates.
