Minutes of Haddam Town Meeting January 25, 2024

(January 31, 2024) — Town of Haddam/Town Meeting Minutes/Thursday, January 25, 2024

Tax Payers/Voters in attendance: roughly 140

A Town Meeting was held on January 25, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company, Community Hall, 439 Saybrook Road, Higganum, Connecticut to consider and act upon the following:

The meeting was called to order by the Honorable First Selectman Robert McGarry at 7:00 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
1. A motion was made by Andrew Munson, seconded by Marge DeBold, to appoint Tony Giamei as moderator of the meeting. Motion Passed.

The legal call was read by Town Clerk, Robert W. Siegrist, III.

Tony Giamei asked for a motion to accept the call as read. A motion was made by John Boothroyd, seconded by Christopher Page to accept the call as read. Motion Passed.

Tony Giamei asked for a motion to carry out the business of the meeting. A motion was made by Craig Salonia, seconded by John Boothroyd to carry out the business of the meeting. Motion Passed.
2. A motion was made by Craig Salonia, seconded by John Boothroyd to consider and accept the Annual Town Report for the fiscal year July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Motion Passed.
3. A motion was made by Craig Salonia seconded by Tom Worthley, to consider and vote on Year-End Transfers of General Fund surplus to Capital. Motion Passed.
4. A motion was made by Craig Salonia, seconded by John Boothroyd, to consider and approve the transfer totaling $1,500 from CNR – Unallocated for additional costs for the Haddam Neck Fire Department – Truck Bay Floor project. Motion Passed
5. A motion was made by Craig Salonia, seconded by Tom Worthley to consider and approve the transfer totaling $30,000 from CNR – Unallocated for the replacement of the
roof of the Haddam Neck Volunteer Fire Department. Motion Passed
6. A motion was made by Craig Salonia and seconded by John Boothroyd to consider and approve the transfer totaling $85,000 from ARPA – Unallocated for the purpose of a Senior Van. Motion Passed.
7. A motion was made by Craig Salonia, seconded by Marge DeBold, to consider and approve the maximum allowable income to change from $55,000 to $65,000 for the
Haddam Elderly Tax Relief Program. Motion Passed.
8. A motion was made by John Boothroyd, and seconded by Craig Salonia, to consider and approve the designation of PA 490 Open Space Eligible Lands as set forth in the Town’s current Plan of Conservation and Development. Motion Passed.

A motion was made by John Boothroyd, and seconded by Craig Salonia, to adjourn the meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
