Legislative Candidate Announces Endorsements

(October 17, 2024) — Renee LaMark Muir, who is running for the first time for state representative in the 36th Assembly District, has earned endorsements from several prominent advocacy groups and organizations. These organization have endorsed her campaign citing her experience and qualifications in public policy and law enforcement and her commitment to fighting for women’s rights, reducing gun violence, protecting our environment, reducing the cost of living, and supporting workers in our state.

Planned Parenthood Votes and Reproductive Equity Now, national organizations in the fight to defend women’s reproductive rights, both endorsed LaMark Muir. She will always protect women’s freedoms and will fight against a national abortion ban and attempts to further limit women’s rights.

Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV,) a leading gun safety advocacy group, has endorsed LaMark Muir, a veteran police officer. LaMark Muir was also named a “Candidate of Distinction” by Moms Demand Action (MDA) for her proposals to reduce gun safety and better enforce state gun laws to remove illegal guns from our streets and schools.

The Sierra Club and the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) have placed their support behind LaMark Muir who is running to further the state’s initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change. She will work to reduce our reliance on traditional fossil fuels through affordable and sensible alternative energy and technologies and protect our natural resources, waterways, and open spaces.

LaMark Muir believes young people are our future leaders and they keep our communities vibrant. She is committed to assisting young adults open local businesses, buy their first home, reduce student loan debt, and afford to reside and work in Connecticut. The Young Democrats-Connecticut have endorsed LaMark Muir’s campaign.

For two decades, LaMark Muir worked as a public policy analyst for the General Assembly; in that role she was a state employee. She knows state employees keep our state government running efficiently and they compassionately serve our residents. The Connecticut State Employees Union Independent (CEUI) is supporting LaMark Muir’s campaign. She is also committed to partnering on important issues impacting all state residents with the Connecticut Nonprofit Association, Connecticut Business & Industries Association (CBIA), and the Connecticut State Medical Association.
