Swing Bridge Construction Update: Week of February 25, 2024

(February 25, 2024) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) for the upcoming week of February 25, 2024.

63-Hour Bridge Closure

  • No 63-hour bridge closure this week.

Overnight Bridge Closures

There will be overnight closures as follows:

  • Sunday night (2/25) into Monday morning (2/26) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Monday night (2/26) into Tuesday morning (2/27) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday night (2/27) into Wednesday morning (2/28) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday night (2/28) into Thursday morning (2/29) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Thursday night (2/29) into Friday morning (3/1) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday night (3/1) into Saturday morning (3/2) – 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Schedule for Swing Bridge Project Construction Activities through April 2024 Note that beginning April 1, 2024, overnight closures may occur as follows:
    • Sunday night into Monday morning – 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
    • Monday night into Tuesday morning – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
    • Tuesday night into Wednesday morning – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
    • Wednesday night into Thursday morning – 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
    • Thursday night into Friday morning – 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
    • Friday night into Saturday morning – 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
    • Saturday night into Sunday morning – 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

    Marine Advisory

    • The swing span is not currently opening to accommodate marine traffic passage. Scheduled openings will resume on April 1, 2024.
