Spring Art Classes Offered at The Buttonwood Tree

Submitted by The Buttonwood Tree

(February 14, 2024) — The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center in Middletown will present spring art classes by local artist, activist and educator Caitlin Duffy.

Duffy is a mixed-media artist living and working in Middletown. She aims to promote accessibility to expressive art for all ages and abilities.  She sees this melding well with The Buttonwood Tree’s mission and enjoys volunteering there whenever she can.

Neurographic Art is a meditative drawing process created by Professor Pavel Piskarev in 2015. It is done by creating one continuous looping line which is then “softened” by rounding out the edges and filling white spaces with color. This is a fun way for kids and adults alike to exist in the present moment and tap into a new way of thinking about and creating art. Maybe you haven’t done art in a long time, or want to see what you are capable of creating. Caitlin will direct classes on this topic on March 23, 2024 and April 6, 2024 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
Duffy also will be leading classes on collage for kids and adults on March 30, 2024 and April 13, 2024 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. You and your child can learn together about color, pattern and paper selection, then how to creatively glue them on your own unique work of collage art. By practicing mindfulness in an accessible, informal class environment, guided by Caitlin’s soothing attention, you and your family can share precious quality time together.
Classes will take place at The Buttonwood Tree, 605 Main Street in Middletown. For more information, visit the website at buttonwood.org.
These classes and other events at The Buttonwood Tree are brought to you by our generous donors and patrons, as well as by the following organizations: Middletown Commission on the Arts, Community Foundation of Middlesex County, Department of Community and Economic Development.
