Shoreline Art Alliance Announces Student Scholarship Winners in the Arts Top Talent

Press Release.
May 6, 2019 – Shoreline Arts Alliance is happy to announce the 7 Scholarship winners and 7 Special Recognition Winners from the 2019 Scholarships in the Arts Top Talent Award Competition. Students from our 24 town region all applied, auditioned, and interviewed for a $1,000 scholarship to continue their education in the arts. Each category of study had a group of dedicated and professional judges that interviewed and reviewed every student, their work, and their application. The students listed below have won awards in 7 different categories of artistic study.
Scholarship Winners and Special Recognition:
Dance
Winner: Angelina DiFranco – Guilford High School and Starship Dance Studio
Special Recognition: Margaret Maselli – Old Saybrook High School, Shoreline Ballet, and Eastern Connecticut Ballet
Creative Writing
Winner: Jane Scheiber – Lyme Old Lyme High School
Special Recognition: Sophie Spaner – Valley Regional High School
Visual Arts
Winner: Gabriella Dollahite – Daniel Hand High School
Special Recognition: Elizabeth Altmannsberger – Branford High School
Theater/Acting
Winner: Elena Keogh – Daniel Hand High School and ACES Educational Center for the Arts
Special Recognition: Remsen Welsh – New Haven Academy and ACES Educational Center for the Arts
Instrumental Music
Winner: Hunter Singewald – Daniel Hand High School, Neighborhood Music School, and School of Rock
Special Recognition: Sophia Griswold – Lyme Old Lyme High School
Vocal Music
Winner: Mary Darin – Mercy High School
Special Recognition: Jake Gladwin – Guilford High School
Jeffrey Dobbs Scholarship for Excellence in Painting
Winner: Alex Williams – Lyme Old Lyme High School
Both the Scholarship winners and the Special Recognition will receive a mentorship with a professional artist in their field. Students will be performing/showing their work at the Scholarships in the Arts Top Talent Showcase on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Evergreen Woods, 88 Notch Hill Rd, North Branford, CT. The event is free and open to the public!
