The 107th Haddam Neck Fair is held over Labor Day weekend starting on Friday August 31, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. and running through Monday, September 3, 2018.
One of the many features of the Fair are a variety of contests for both children and adults:
- The Skillet Throwing Contest ( Women Only) will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the small ring.
- The Beard Contest will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Beards will be judged on length, fullness, neatness and the quality of sideburns and mustache.
- The Multiple Birth Contest will take place on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at noon. Contestants must be twins, triplets or quadruplets and will be judged on youngest, oldest, best matched outfits and funny look alike.
- Special Sunflower Contest recognizes largest diameter or tallest from root to flower. Sunflower entries will be accepted on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Vegetable/Flower Building.
- Red Neck Strongman Contest will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The contest consists of several timed events and is open to all men and women 18 years of age or older.
In addition, children can enter contests which will be held throughout the weekend including watermelon eating, hula hoop, and the egg toss.
There are also state contests including Junior Baking Contest , Adult Baking Contest, Apple Pie Contest and Junior and Adult Quilt Contests.
