(August 23, 2023) — Since launching XtraMile as a pilot in 2019, River Valley Transit has used TransLoc as its software vendor. As XtraMile has grown and expanded, RVT has found the need to change vendors to enhance the software and app to improve the rider’s experience.
RVT has been working with Via and will launch the new XtraMile by RVT app on August 29, 2023. This new app and the scheduling software offer many new features for customers. These include:
- Improved advanced scheduling ability
- Clear pick-up windows so riders know when the bus will arrive
- Ability to set a drop-off time to get to work or appointments on time
- Ability to see available fixed route times for your trip so you can select the best way to travel
- Improved scheduling algorithms to reduce wait times
- Improved customer support
- Ability to create customer accounts for call-in customers
For customers who book trips by phone, there will be no change in the way you schedule. You will now receive a pick-up window when booking.
For customers currently using the TransLoc app, you will need to download the XtraMile by RVT app, which will be launching in the App Store and Play Store. If you use the same email address as in TransLoc, you should have an account already set for you.
Labor Day Schedule
On Labor Day, September 4, 2023, only ParkConneCT services, the Clinton Trolley and Madison Shuttle will operate. All other services will be closed. We wish all of our customers a Happy Labor Day!
Service Changes
We continue to work to finalize our service changes for implementation in October. 2023 We received lots of great feedback in the public comment process and have incorporated those into our final designs. Digital and paper schedules will be available in the coming weeks and will be distributed well in advance of the changes.
