Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce Welcomes UConn Head Baseball Coach Jim Penders

(July 21, 2022) — Chairwoman Kristen Roberts of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce has announced that University of Connecticut Head Baseball Coach Jim Penders, will serve as keynote speaker at a Chamber Breakfast Meeting on Monday, August 22, 2022.

The Breakfast Meeting, sponsored by DATTCO and Makiaris Media, will be held at the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Chamber President Larry McHugh noted, “We look forward to welcoming Coach Jim Penders, leader of the UConn Baseball Program, to our Member Breakfast Meeting once again. We are all very proud of Jim’s success as a fantastic Coach. I also want to thank him for speaking to our members and thank DATTCO and Makiaris Media for their sponsorship of what is sure to be another great event.”

Jim Penders enters his 19th season at the helm for the Huskies in 2022. A five-time conference Coach of the Year, Penders has overseen one of the most successful stretches in the 125-year history of UConn baseball. Penders has worked with the University of Connecticut baseball program in 30 of the past 32 years, being associated with the Huskies as a student-athlete, an assistant coach and now head coach. The Huskies have the longest tenured coaching staff in Division I baseball.

Overall in his tenure, Penders holds a 606-416-5 record. On May 16, 2019,  Penders surpassed his mentor, Andy Baylock, for most wins in UConn history by securing his 557th victory in an 8-5 win at Tulane. He has led the Huskies to six NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Super Regional appearance in 2011. UConn has also won a regular season or a conference title five times with Penders in the dugout and hosted the 2010 Norwich Regional. Under his watch, 15 Huskies have earned All-America honors, most recently Kyler Fedko in 2021.
