WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, July 28, 2021, - Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, a rehabilitation-focused nonprofit healthcare organization, named Killingworth resident Alyssa Rotman, MSN, RN, as the Joseph A. Lindenmayer 2020 Employee of the Year.
A Gaylord employee since 1993, Rotman is the Clinical Informatics and Lab Manager.
Rotman was nominated by a coworker who wrote, “Alyssa is one of the most accountable people at Gaylord. At times she seems super-human in her ability to accomplish tasks in a minuscule amount of time. She is a creative problem solver, always thinking about the staff and how it could affect their workflow. Alyssa turns a problem over and over looking for a solution. If she says it can’t be done, then you know it is futile.”
“She always gives maximum effort, even once chasing down a lab specimen in her car to make sure it was handled appropriately. She is an ear that will listen and a partner that will go to battle with you. It is an absolute pleasure to work by her side.”
Alyssa’s Supervisor, Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer Lisa Kalafus, MSN, BSN, RN, said, “Alyssa has had a long-standing, successful career at Gaylord beginning as a frontline staff nurse. Her talents quickly landed her in a variety of leadership positions. Alyssa truly has an expansive wealth of knowledge and is one of the most accountable people I have ever worked with. She is an extraordinary leader and hard worker. We are fortunate to have her expertise and energy she puts in to most everything she touches each and every day!”
Calling the award an honor, Rotman said, “I consider myself fortunate to work with every department in the hospital. I love it at Gaylord, I grew up here. I have had the unique experience of having a loved one here as a patient and got to witness first-hand the incredible work everyone does.”
