The Killingworth Helping Hands Food Pantry Is Responding to the Times

Submitted by Genie Dethloff.

The Helping Hands Food Pantry, in realizing that the need for food assistance has increased during these difficult times, has added set hours for food pickup by Killingworth residents. Food pickup is curbside on Thursdays from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at 242 Route 81 (on the circle). Pantry food is available for weekly pickup, if needed. Orders will consist of a pre-packed selection of nonperishable foods staples, with extras as available – portioned to fit your household size . Special dietary needs or food requests will be filled if available.

To place an order and to let the pantry know ahead of time that you are coming, call 860 663-1765 ext. 401 or email helpinghands@kwoct.org.  If you can’t make the designated hours, food pickup is still available by appointment – leave a phone message or email. Delivery is also available for those who are homebound. All information is confidential. The pantry is now manned by volunteers from the Killingworth Women’s Organization (KWO).  To learn more about the KWO see their website www.kwoct.org.
