HVFC Responds: Three motor vehicle accidents in two days

By Olivia Drake, HVFC Information Officer.

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to three motor vehicle accidents on May 28 and 29.

At 12:15 p.m. on May 28, crews were dispatched to Cedar Lake Road in Haddam. The vehicle’s operator swerved off the road, went into the woods, and struck a tree. The driver was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel and was later transferred to Middlesex Hospital with minor injuries.

At 10:05 a.m. on May 29, HVFC responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Killingworth Road and Brault Hill Road. One patient was transported to Middlesex Hospital with minor injuries.

And at 2:10 p.m., Haddam Fire was dispatched to another accident on Bridge Road across from Camp Bethel Road. Traffic on Bridge Road was stopped at the East Haddam Swing Bridge and a driver, heading east-bound, struck a parked vehicle, which struck another vehicle, leading to a three-car accident. Five people involved in the accident were evaluated on scene by EMS personnel and refused additional medical treatment.

The accident caused Mable, an 8-year-old Great Dane, to jump from the window of a truck and run through the parked traffic, towards the Connecticut River. She was later caught and reunited with her owners.
