Killingworth Business Spotlight: Timeless Interiors

(February 11, 2020) — Rachel Schemmerling, of Killingworth, established Timeless Interiors in 2007 after realizing that interior design was the culmination of all of her interests and talents. “I had a degree in Hospitality Management, managed a Bed & Breakfast, and was also a floral designer. I went back to school for Interior Design in 2001,” said Rachel, who grew up in Madison, and has lived in Killingworth since 2003. She did take a break from Timeless Interiors from 2013-2017, but she’s back at it. “I love to help people realize that they can live comfortably without sacrificing their style,” said Rachel.

This “one-woman show” is based in Killingworth and Rachel travels to her clients’ homes. She tries to utilize local services first. Her bookkeeper is a Killingworth resident, as is her web designer. She offers interior design consultation, home staging of homes for sale, color consultations, tabletop and holiday styling, and shopping services, as well as Designer for a Day packages (6 hours of design time for one room), and Home Restyling, full service “from concept to completion.”

If you aren’t sure what those services entail, for instance, when you look at her website, you can see more detail about her Designer for a Day package:

“From accessories, space planning, window treatments, and soft furnishings to selecting the right paint colors, together with my assistance will expertly tailor your space. The finished product is a design plan created in a period of a day for one room/area in your home. Preceded by an initial consultation required.

I can re-create your space by utilizing what you already have and add/or with a few small purchases. Perhaps, if you are selling your home I can set it up so the house looks it’s best and appeals to everyone and that get it sold faster and for more. “

She wants her services to be affordable, so that busy professional families “can take advantage of having a whole room transformed in a short period of time and that downsizing homeowners or realtors trying to sell a property have a choice in staging services that is affordable and easy,” explained Rachel.

Rachel loves to work with older homes, as well as new homes. “Historic preservation is a love of mine,” said Rachel. “I am currently co-chair of PRESERVATION2020, a capital campaign to restore and preserve the nearly 200 year old Congregational Church in Killingworth.”
