Boys Track/Girls Track 2024: HKHS Teams Finish Regular Season with Wins over Cromwell and Old Saybrook

(May 15, 2024) — The Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls Track teams hosted their final tri-meet of the season on May 14, 2024 as they competed against Cromwell and Old Saybrook.

The Boys team defeated Old Saybrook by a score of 128-15, and Cromwell by a score of 106-43 to finish their dual meet season undefeated with a record of 10-0 on the season.  Since 2007, the H-K boys spring track team has amassed a dual meet record of 141 wins and only 7 losses…a 95% winning percentage! 

Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Dan McCourt 3200 (10:08), Eli Hamann-Shay 100 (11.3) 200 (22.9) 400 (50.6), Ryan Ruggiero 110 hurdles (18.1) 300 hurdles (45.2) and pole vault (10’6″), Luke Staskelunas long jump (18’7″), Trevor Dixon shot put (45’2″), Mitchell Kelsey discus (127’0″), Tim Cavrell javelin (149’2″) and Ryan Rafferty triple jump (39’5″).  The boys also won the 4×400 relay.

The H-K Girls team went 2-0 on the day as they defeated Cromwell by a score of 124-25, and beat Old Saybrook by a score of 77.5-71.5 to finish their dual meet season with a record of 9-1.  The Girls team has a combined record of 105-10 in dual meets since 2012. 

Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners:  Mariella Fulcher 100 (12.7) 200 (26.4) and 400 (60.8), Sydney Adelberg 1600 (5:35) 800 (2:28), Charlotte Behnke 3200 (13:09), Delaney Aronson 300 hurdles (51.2), Margaret Robinson javelin (81′), Kayla Rodriguez pole vault (8’6″) and Adrianna Garoppolo long jump (15’5″). The girls 4×800 relay team was also victorious on the afternoon to contribute team points.

 

The track teams will next be in action on May 15, 2024 when they compete in the Shoreline Championship meet at Portland High School.
