(September 11, 2024) — The Haddam Historical Society is thrilled to be hosting the inaugural Connecticut River Valley Antiques and Historic Homes Show on October 19, 2024 and October 20, 2024 at the former Haddam Elementary School, 272 Saybrook Road in historic Higganum.

The show will feature thirty of New England’s finest antiques dealers offering a wide variety of antiques and art that will include furniture, decorative and folk art, ceramics, and so much more. Visitors will be able to explore the stories, craftsmanship and beauty of one-of-a-kind pieces and learn from our knowledgeable and distinguished dealers.

The Historic Homes Show will feature programming curated for the owners of antique homes, with exhibits and presentations by experts, including stonework craftsmen, window restorationists, preservation architects, and garden designers who will share their know- how and experiences from working on local historic properties.

The keynote speaker for the weekend will be Lee McColgan, author of A House Restored; The Tragedies and Triumphs of Saving a New England Colonial at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Mr. McColgan has worked on Boston’s Old North Church, Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House, and other buildings. His work has appeared in Architectural Digest, the Boston Globe, and the Wall Street Journal. He can be found on Instagram at helvehistorictrades.

The panel will be led by Higganum’s own Rebecca Lineberry whose restoration efforts and love for antique homes have been featured in the New York Times, ICRV radio and various internet media outlets. Rebecca has recently worked on a colonial period house in Mystic which was filmed for Magnolia Network’s “In with the Old.” Rebecca can be found on Instagram at my_1755_story.
