Girls Tennis 2019: HKHS Wins One, Loses Two

The Haddam Killingworth High School girls tennis team won their home opener against Cromwell on Saturday, March 30, 2019 with senior and first singles Abby Larkin defeating Cromwell’s Jazmin Gianni 6-1 6-1, HK junior and second singles Lauren Miller defeating Jaiden Swanson 6-2 6-4 and HK junior and third singles Shelby Whitehead defeating Isabella Barber 6-0 6-1.  All three HK doubles teams prevailed as well for a final score of 6-1.

On Monday April 1, 2019 the girls took a 2-5 loss versus Westbrook on the courts at HK.  At first singles Westbrook’s Sara Farnoli defeated Abby Larkin 6-0 6-0 and Westbrook’s Sara Davey overcame Lauren Miller 4-6 7-5 6-1.  Other matches included Julia Farnoli (W) d. Evelyn Luneau (HK) 6-2 6-2 and Gianni Salisbury (W) d. Shelby Whitehead (HK) 7-5 6-04.  In doubles, Payton Pazsak and Ashley Hamilton (HK) d. Alex Young and Juliana Fabrizi (W) 3-6 6-2 6-1 and Jessica Duffield and Lizzy Celano (HK) d. Alexandra Zanzalari and Sadi Susi (W) 6-0 6-0.
On Thursday April 4, 2019 HK hosted North Branford and were defeated 6-1.  Sophia Cavalier (NB) d. Abby Larkin (HK) 6-1 6-0, Sydney Constantinidi (NB) d. Lauren Miller(HK) 6-1 6-2 and Jordan Caplan(NB) d. Evelyn Luneau (HK) 6-1 6-4.  The bright spot for HK was in third doubles with Jessica Duffield and LIzzy Celano recording a victory over Ashley Testa and Emma Serenson, 6-3 6-4
The girls head over to Valley on Monday April 8, 2019 for their first away match of the season.
