(October 17, 2026) — As global oil prices send home heating oil prices higher, Connecticut is activating its “Federal Cuts Response Fund” to supplement the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program with $12.7 million of additional funding. The CEAP helps Connecticut residents in need, serving more than 94,000 households this year including nearly 33,000 deliverable fuel households.
Those on fixed or limited incomes, including older adults, young families and people with disabilities, will receive priority care. The supplemental state aid will allow deliverable fuel households to receive CEAP benefits rather than waiting to exhaust one benefit before accessing another. CEAP-eligible households may qualify if their annual gross income is at or below 60% of the state median income, which is $93,681 for the current fiscal year; SNAP, TFA and SSI benefit recipients can quality that way as well.
