RSD 17 Seeks Volunteers for High School Building Committee

Submitted by Regional School District 17

(October 14, 2026) — Following the successful passage of the bonding referendum, Regional School District 17 has announced a call for community volunteers to serve on the newly formed HKHS Building Committee. The committee will oversee the major “renovate-as-new” project planned for Haddam-Killingworth High School.

The district is looking to appoint seven to nine members and two alternates from the Haddam and Killingworth communities. Selected individuals will serve a crucial oversight role throughout the project’s anticipated five-year duration, helping shape the high school facility for future generations.

RSD 17 is specifically seeking residents with expertise and background in the following areas:

  • Technical trades (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, general contracting, roofing)
  • Construction industry leadership
  • Architecture, design, and interior design
  • Finance, accounting, contracts, or legal practice
  • School or commercial construction project administration
  • Educational planning (general or special education)

To be considered, please send a copy of your current resume and/or a letter outlining your experience to  BOE@rsd17.org. For further information, you also may contact the District at (860) 345-4534.
