Programs and Events at Haddam Senior Center, March 2026

(March 2, 2026) — The following programs and events will take place at the Haddam Senior Center during the month of March, 2026. See Calendar below:

MARCH 2026 Event Calendar

Highlights of the month ahead include:

Tuesday, March 3rd – 11:30 a.m.: Sherry Carlson will be here for our monthly blood pressure clinic. This is a drop-in event and sign-up is not required.

Monday, March 9th – 12:00 Noon: Our monthly Pizza and a Movie, featuring “Catch Me if You Can,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

Thursday, March 12th – 1:00 p.m.: We are very excited to welcome Mary Lee Brody for a cooking demonstration “Easy Recipes with Chocolate”. Mary Brody sells out at every Senior Center so we are excited to offer her program! This session will go until 3pm and includes samples! There is a $10 fee and sign up is required as space is limited. Here is a brief description of the demonstration: Learn about the different types of chocolate and easy recipes for each. Mary will be demonstrating One Bowl Brownies with unsweetened chocolate and chocolate chips, Mini Chocolate Cheesecakes made with semi-sweet chocolate, Classic Chocolate Cake (in a 13×9-inch pan) with cocoa powder, and White Chocolate Fudge. There will be lots of tips and tricks for working with chocolate and much sampling.

Friday, March 13th – 1:00 p.m. St Patrick’s Day Floral Workshop. Cathy from Cathy & Co Botanicals will be here with a fun St Patrick’s Day arrangement.

Monday, March 16th – 1:00 p.m.: We are excited to join forces with our friends at Club 60 to host the new Regional School District 17 Superintendent, Dr. Patricia Sullivan-Kowalski, as she presents her draft of the 2026-2027 RSD17 school budget. This Club 60 meeting will be held at the Senior Center. Overflow parking will be available at Brainerd Memorial Library across the street. Please contact Doreen in advance if you need arrangements for handicap parking.

Friday, March 20th – 12:30 p.m.: “Golden Transitions” Seminar. Join local professionals who will discuss planning for the future.  Whether you’re thinking about staying in your home, downsizing, or simply getting organized for the years ahead, this free educational seminar is designed to give you clarity, options, and peace of mind. Join us for a relaxed, informative conversation focused on helping you make thoughtful decisions — at your own pace.  More information is in the flyer below.

Monday, March 23rd – 1:00 p.m.: Spend an hour with the “Carol Burnett Show.” Come laugh with us as we re-watch some classic episodes of this iconic show.

Tuesday, March 24th – 12:30 p.m.: “Heart Healthy Nutrition” presentation with Chris Blancarte, MS RDN from Senior Resources. Click on attachment below.

Haddam Heart 3-24-26

Thursday, March 26th – 1:00 p.m.: We will host Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services for our rescheduled “QPR Suicide Prevention and Naloxone” training. Sign-up is not required but recommended. See flyer below for more information.

QPR Naloxone Senior Center March 2026

Learn three steps anyone can take to prevent suicide and be a resource to those who might be struggling:

  • Recognize warning signs
  • Learn how to intervene
  • Learn where to refer someone in crisis
  • Naloxone is an opiate antidote, meaning it can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Friday, March 27th – 11:30 a.m.: Our monthly Mini-Spa Manicures with Stacey Hathaway. Please sign up, as space is limited. There is a $20 fee.

Monday, March 30th – 1:00 p.m.: Our monthly Mystery Book Club will be reviewing our current selection, “Death in the Details” by local novelist Katie Tietjen!

As always, we have our regularly scheduled daily, weekly and monthly events! We serve a delicious hot lunch every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (suggested donation $3) and Friday (suggested donation $5); we host all levels Mobility on Monday and Thursday, T’ai Chi every Friday, and Bingo is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.
