Sacred Heart on the Lake Announces Winter and Lenten Retreats

Submitted by Sr. Lany Jo Smith, ASCJ

(January 23, 2026) — Sacred Heart on the Lake Retreat Center in Higganum has announced Winter and Lenten Retreats for 2026:

LENT RETREAT – The Gifts of Forgiveness and Mercy

Same Retreat on three different Saturdays: February 28, 2026, March 7, 2026 and March 14, 2026, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During this Retreat Day, we will ask God to help us as we seek to be released from the prison we allow ourselves to be chained in by our refusal to forgive or be forgiven into the freedom of God’s unconditional love and unearned mercy. Forgiveness is rarely an easy task because of the pain that has been experienced. Yet, for believers, that challenge is made even more urgent by the clear invitation and desire of God that we forgive one another as we have been forgiven by God. (Eph. 4:32)  Forgiveness is not forgetting the past.  It is not condoning the painful event or the trauma that happened.  Rather, it is acknowledging and clearly facing the past, and making a conscious choice to not let it maintain its hold on us.

Presenter: Sr. Lany Jo Smith, ASCJ. Donation asked, $35, includes a Continental Breakfast and a Full Lunch. To register online go to sacredheartonthelake.org or call Sr. Lany Jo at 203-606-9102.
