(November 1, 2025) — Here’s what will be going on at the Haddam Senior Center in November. Please click on the link for calendar and menu details. Highlights are below:

NOV 2025 Event Calendar

Tuesday, November 4th – 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 Noon: We will host a flu clinic sponsored by Nutmeg Pharmacy. If you weren’t able to get your flu shot in October, this is a great next opportunity for you. There is no sign-up required.

Friday, November 7th at 10:00 a.m. starts our next six week session of T’ai Chi with Tom Cushing. Tom leads a very gentle, grounding practice each week. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I encourage you to do so. T’ai Chi is excellent for improving balance, strength and many other things. This is a drop-in weekly event.

Monday, November 10th at 12:00 Noon is our next Pizza and a Movie featuring Diane Keaton in “Book Club: The Next Chapter,” a 2023 romantic comedy film that follows four lifelong friends as they embark on a bachelorette trip to Italy filled with unexpected adventures and personal revelations. The movie also stars Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. Please sign up for this event to ensure we order enough pizza.

Tuesday, November 11th – The Senior Center is closed in observance of Veterans Day.

Thursday, November 13th – Sherry Carlson from CRAHD will be here for two special programs. She will begin with a Blood Pressure Clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, and follow it up after lunch at 12:30 p.m. with a presentation on Flu vs. Cold and how you can tell the difference. This is a drop-in event. No sign-up is required for either the blood pressure clinic or the Flu vs. Cold presentation.

Monday, November 17th at 1:00 p.m. – The Senior Center is partnering with Haddam Club 60 for a special event in honor of Veterans Day. VFW Quartermaster and Higganum resident Jim Woodworth will be talking about the Higganum/Haddam VFW’s community engagement and outreach programs to veterans. Jim will share information about the VFW, American Legion, the Higganum/Haddam Parade Committee, and our town treasure, the Veterans Museum. This event is open to the public, and will include live music performed by Brian May to kick off the meeting. In addition, the Veterans Museum, located next door to the Community Center, will be open following the presentation. The Senior Center will be closing early so that everyone can attend this event, which will be located at the Community Center, 7 Candlewood Hill Road in Higganum.

Tuesday, November 18th at 12:00 Noon – Join us for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, this year provided by our amazing food provider, The Kitchen @ Futures Inc. Space is limited to the first 35 who sign up for this special dinner. The cost is $4.50 and a current Form 5 is required. If you have questions or have joined us in the past and are unsure if there is a Form 5 on file, please contact Doreen (860-345-2480/seniors@haddam.org).

Friday, November 21st beginning at 11:30 a.m. will be our next Mini-Spa Manicure session. Space is limited, so sign-up is required. There is a $20 fee for the manicure.

Monday, November 24th at 1:00 p.m. – we’ve got two events going on concurrently. We’ve got our next floral workshop with Cathy from Cathy & Co Botanicals which will include creating a Thanksgiving Centerpiece. We are calling this a “Friendsgiving Event,” so please bring a friend! The cost is $20 for Haddam Seniors and $25 for Non-Resident Seniors and we ask that you sign up in advance to ensure we have enough materials for the workshop.

We also have the next installment of our Mystery Book Club! We are reading “The Bone Collector” by Jeffery Deaver. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Doreen to get a copy of the book.

Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th the Senior Center will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

I wish you all a great November and a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back this weekend!
