Update on Board of Selectmen Meeting March 13th

(March 15, 2023) — The regular meeting of Haddam’s Board of Selectmen on March 13, 2023, was called to order by First Selectman Robert McGarry at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Selectmen Kate Anderson and Sean Moriarty were present.

First Selectman McGarry reported that six firms responded to the Request for Proposals for environmental remediation and one firm for site development of the Rossi Property. Scovil Hoe groundbreaking is planned for April with renovations starting in May. Bids for the roof repair at Haddam Elementary School are being solicited. Higganum Cove access has been improved by grading, and the vistas for the falls have been cleared. Community septic test pits have arrived and will be monitored until April. Overnight closures of the Swing Bridge are scheduled through March 31, 2023, during week nights. Saturday and Sunday closures will occur only if week nights are lost. Gantry Crane will reduce clearance on the bridge to 14’ 6.” Phantom Brewery at 201 Saybrook Road plans to open in May. A certificate of occupancy has been issued for all Blueway Commons buildings. Finally, Regional School District 17 Superintendent’s budget is requesting a $3 million increase.

Selectman Anderson made a motion to appoint Rebecca Rice, new Social Services Director, as the Municipal Agent for the Elderly. The motion carried unanimously.

Selectman Moriarty made a motion to appoint Helen Hastings to the Sustainability Committee. The motion carried unanimously.

The next regular Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 pm.
