Troopers: Conspiracy to Commit Larceny Arrest

On Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Steven O. Jones, age 25, of Bayonne, NJ, was taken into custody after he entered the Citizens Bank at 6 Killingworth Road, Higganum, and attempted to cash a fraudulent Citizens Bank check made out to him in the amount of $6,110.40, allegedly endorsed by “ATS Equipment of Rhode Island, Inc.” Jones claimed he was issued the check for payment for work he did through “Craig’s List.”

It was then learned that the Old Lyme Resident Troopers Office was also investigating an earlier similar incident with the same ATS Equipment fraudulent Citizens Bank check involving a different male residing out of New Jersey who unsuccessfully attempted to cash a check at the Old Lyme Citizens Bank.
Jones was charged with Conspiracy to commit Larceny 3rd degree, Criminal attempt to commit larceny 3rd degree, and Issuing a bad check. He was bailed out on a $15,000 bond is to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on Oct. 25.
Investigation by Haddam Resident Trooper Enrico Milardo continues into identifying other suspects who may be involved.
