Troopers Arrest Man Observed Traveling 120 MPH on I-95 in Westbrook

(December 20, 2024) — On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at approximately 1:03 a.m., a Trooper monitoring traffic on I-95 northbound in the area of Exit 64 in Westbrook observed a Mercedes traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane, passing traffic. After determining that the Mercedes was traveling at speeds up to 120 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone, the Trooper initiated a motor vehicle stop.

During the course of the stop, the operator of the vehicle was positively identified as Zhicheng Wu, DOB: 11/19/1998, of Flushing, New York. Following a brief on-scene investigation, Wu was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop F in Westbrook, where he was processed and charged with the following:

C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving

Wu was later released on a $500.00 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on January 5, 2024, at Middletown Superior Court.
