Letter to the Editor: Concentration of Personal Power in Killingworth’s Government

Two candidates for Board of Selectmen on the Killingworth Republican slate are seeking more than one office. Our town charter prohibits a selectman from holding another town office, but even if it did not, we should be wary of having the same person in multiple positions of authority in Killingworth’s town government.

There has been a direct historical relationship between abuse of power and such concentration of authority within governments. We do not need to allow that to happen in Killingworth. The prohibition in our town charter is there for a good reason.
