The Green Light Means Go for HaRRP

Submitted by Liz Anderson

(September 23, 2022) —The Haddam Area Refugee Resettlement Project (HaRRP) is excited to announce that the Green Light Form indicating that they are ready to welcome a family to Haddam has been completed and accepted by our partner, Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS). We can expect a family anytime now with as little as 48 hours notice. It might, of course, take a few months, but we are looking forward to being able to assist a family in their adjustment to a new home in the near future.

The house is ready for new occupants, volunteers have been trained and background-checked. Area churches have contributed generously as have individuals and other community groups, raising more than the $20,000 goal suggested by IRIS.  Group leaders have volunteered for grant-writing, housing, providing rides, education, healthcare, welcoming the family, fundraising—all under the outstanding leadership of Lori Chadwick and Jack Murphy. That does not mean that additional volunteers are not welcome and needed! It’s not too late to volunteer by completing an application at https://haddamchurch.org/about-harrp or by contacting Lori at lori.chadwick@snet.net or Jack at jackmurf@gmail.com.
