To Paint or Not to Paint; That Was the Question

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper. Received October 1, 2023.

In 1995, I began my education in Scenic Painting at Yale University School of Drama. I worked with the Resident Artist and Designers to create sets for stage productions.

It was not unusual to be up on ladders with a gallon of paint in one hand and a paintbrush in the other.  Sometimes scaffolding was used. Ladders were my preferred choice. Something about the wooden rungs made me feel more secure.

Fast forward to 2023, I wanted a change of color in my main living spaces.

I painted the rooms a few years ago, but this time, the ceilings seemed higher. At the peak, it is eighteen feet up, no easy task. I managed the first 15 feet, but the last 3 feet I found daunting. I still had another 18-foot-high wall to do.

After finishing two 15-foot walls I posted a photo on Facebook. When my son saw it he called and urged me to hire a painter. He had a bad fall and did not want to see me take a tumble too.

I agreed to and sought recommendations. Luckily, I found Karl Ogibowski of AMG Painting LLC.

All it took was a quick call and voila, I hired a professional painter!

Within a couple of hours, all the walls were perfectly covered and as a bonus, Karl cleaned our ceiling fan!

His work is meticulous, and I can say, my paintbrushes are now retired.
