Haddam Killingworth High School Varsity Girl’s softball team defeated Hale-Ray’s team on Friday, April 23, 2021 with a score of 5-0. Three H-K pitchers combined to strike out 17 Hale-Ray batters, allowing only 1 hit. Winning pitcher for H-K was Bella Richwine. Starting pitcher was Brooke Hickman (8 K’s) who pitched the first 3 innings, Bella (7 K’s) pitched 4 through 6th and Kaleigh Bodak (2 K’s) pitched the 7th.
The Cougars scored 4 runs in the 4th inning on an RBI singles from Chey LaTouche (3 for 3) and Keira Czarkowski, then sister Madison LaTouche (2 for 3) delivered 2 more runs with another single. HK scored an insurance run in the 6th when Ella McGlynn doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.
H-K is now 7-0, while Hale-Ray drops to 0-3.
Next game is Monday, April 26 at Coginchaug.
