Pet CPR & First Aid Class Offered

Do you know how to help your pet in an emergency? Learn the life saving skills needed to help your pet in an emergency while supporting CT Animal House in their mission to help pets! Pet CPR & First Aid Class will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, from noon – 4:00 p.m. at the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Co. (52 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, CT 06415). 

This class is designed for anyone with an interest in protecting the safety and wellness of animals. Training is geared toward Pet Parents, Pet Care Professionals (groomer, sitter, walker, vet tech), Animal Rescue Group Volunteers and Emergency Service Personnel (no prior training or experience is required). Taught by a 25+ year seasoned pre-hospital care provider and educator, the class includes lecture, demonstration, and an emphasis on hands-on skills practice to ensure your proficiency in the life saving skills presented.

Hands-on Skills Practice:

  • emergency muzzling & restraint
  • vital signs assessment
  • CPR (canine & feline)
  • choking management (conscious & unconscious)
  • bleeding control/shock management

Lecture

  • medical emergencies (seizures, bloat, allergic reaction)
  • poisoning
  • environmental emergencies
  • pet safety & wellness
