BERLIN, Conn. (Oct. 18, 2019) – Utility crews from Michigan, New York, Ohio and Virginia are assisting Eversource workers restoring power to customers impacted by Wednesday’s severe wind and rain storm. As of midday, line and tree crews have restored power to more than 90,000 customers since the storm began and continue working to bring the remaining 6,000 customers back on line. The majority of
Eversource Connecticut customers currently without power will have it restored by Saturday at 6 a.m., with many being restored before that.
“The fierce winds with this storm caused widespread power outages, affecting customers in almost all of the 149 communities we serve in Connecticut,” said Eversource Vice President of Electric Operations in Connecticut Michael Hayhurst. “Our crews are spread out across the state – making great progress restoring power. Whether they are working in the field or behind the scenes, our team remains committed to being there for our customers when they’re needed most. We’re working around-the-clock shifts until every customer has their power restored.”
Some customers have more complex outages that may take longer to restore. That necessary work may also require assistance from a private electrician or contractor. Eversource representatives are contacting these customers directly to discuss their outage.
The company reminds customers to always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1. They should report an outage online at www.eversource.com, or by calling 800-286-2000. Those who signed up for the company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
