November 2023 Events and Programs at Spectrum Gallery

(October 26, 2023) — The following events and programs will take place during November 2023 at Spectrum Art Gallery, 61 Main Street in Centerbrook.

Spectrum Gallery Holiday Exhibit: “Childhood – Let’s Never Grow Up!”  We’re all children during the holidays! And ‘tis the season to celebrate childhood and its meaning for us. Discover new and exciting artwork by established and emerging artists from Connecticut and throughout the region in the newest exhibition at Spectrum Art Gallery, “Childhood-Let’s Never Grow Up!” (Image Below: Teddy Bear, Oil on Canvas by Daniel Dahlstrom)

Join the Opening Reception on Friday, November 17, 2023 (6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) and the Open House Weekend, Saturday, November 18, 2023 (1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.) and Sunday, November 19, 2023 (1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.). The Artisans Store brims with seasonal pottery, glass, fiber, home décor, jewelry, gift cards, and handmade ornaments displayed on a six-foot holiday tree. Shop online at SpectrumAnytime.com with shipping throughout US. Exhibit runs through January 13, 2024. Between December 9th and 23rd, the Gallery is open daily 12-6pm; on Dec 24, open 11am-2pm.

On Zoom: Art Journaling II. Create journal pages with new techniques such as using alcohol inks on special Yupo paper for brilliant backgrounds and abstract landscapes. Learn to precolor background papers via painting or making gel prints and then use stencils to create wallpaper, or play with rubber stamps, art foamies and distress ink pads. Add texture to journal pages by adding raised stencil designs. Embellish with vintage postage mail and letters for a unique composition. Beginners welcome. Supply list upon registration. Tuesdays, November 14, 21, 28 26; December 5, 12. 12:30 p.m.-2:30pm. $140. Members save $14.

In Gallery: Art Journaling II. Same description as above, but held at the Gallery on Wednesdays, November 15, 22, 29; December 6, 13. 12:30-2:30pm. $160. Members save $16. Plus $25 material fee to instructor for use of her supplies.

In Gallery: Holiday Wreath Design Workshop. Create your own 30” live wreath to display proudly this season. A wide variety of freshly picked greenery is available. Florist wire, hand-made bows and painted objects, including pinecones, for embellishment are also provided. Bring wire cutters or sharp scissors.  Gloves are recommended. Beginners welcome! Sunday, December 3, 2023. 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. $45 plus $25 material fee paid to the instructor; Members save $4.

Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers sought to help at gallery show installations and receptions, outdoor arts festivals, and other events and programming throughout the year. No experience necessary.
