Marine Alert/Haddam-East Haddam Swing Bridge

(September 15, 2023) — Due to construction activities occurring on Monday, September 25, 2023 and Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the East Haddam Swing Bridge will be unable to swing open for tall marine vessels.

All scheduled openings for these two days have been CANCELLED.

The Department understands the inconvenience to the boating community this change is schedule causes. In order to mitigation the disruption to the existing schedule, the Department is adding additional openings leading up to and following the cancelled openings.

The revised schedule for the days leading up to and following these cancellations will be:
Friday (9/22) Saturday (9/23) and Sunday (9/24) at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00p.m.
Monday (9/25) and Tuesday (9/26) no openings

Wednesday (9/27) at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

Beginning Thursday, September 28, 2023, the swing openings for tall marine vessels will revert to the previous schedule as following:
Monday through Thursday at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Friday through Sunday at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.

Additionally, Hurricane Lee is approaching. Due to high winds, there may be times this weekend when we cannot safely operate the bridge. Wind gusts of over 35 mph will cause cancellations to bridge openings. Boaters are encouraged to keep an eye on the forecast, and plan accordingly.
