Letter to the Editor: Response to Beaver Meadow Road Work

I knew the necessity for some surface water control on Beaver Meadow Road due to a washout on the side of the road that happened some time ago. I was not aware of the need for a new road crossing, but they are probably related.  However, I was totally surprised on the size of road crossing culvert that is being installed. I have been driving down that road for 40 years and have never seen the stream the culvert has to handle requiring what looks like two 10’ x 6’ concrete ”pipes.” Looks like a little “overkill,” but I could be wrong. If a corrugated pipe with less but sufficient capacity was installed, the project could have avoided the delivery issue problems and the need for the amount of work required would have been considerably less.  Don’t want to appear to be a “Monday morning quarterback,” but I am just concerned about the amount of money the project is costing, not to mention the inconvenience to the citizens who use the road.
