Letter to the Editor: In Support of Mark McCormick for Killingworth ZBA

My name is Mark McCormick, and I am a candidate on the Killingworth Democratic slate for a position on the Zoning Board of Appeals. I have been a lifelong resident of Connecticut. Raised in Hamden, my wife and I lived in Weston, Connecticut for 24 years before moving to Killingworth and purchasing a former inn. We loved both the inn, the property, and the magnificent beechwood guarding its entrance.

A Chemical Engineer by training, I received my degree from Northeastern University and spent my career working in the environmental field as a VP and Chief Operations Officer for Synagro Technologies. My work and personal experiences with construction and environmental projects is extensive. I dealt with hands-on engineering and the cost analysis and efficiencies that make projects doable.

After retiring, I spent time completing an addition on our Weston home along with several consulting projects. I built two homes and renovated two more in multiple towns, so I am familiar with land use requirements. I believe those experiences provide me with some necessary background for understanding the needs of both citizen applicants and the town when they come before ZBA.

My wife and I are enjoying Killingworth and the new friends we’ve made here. Running for ZBA is a way of giving back to this community which was so welcoming to us.

I ask for your vote on November 7th. You will find my name on Row A. Thank you for your consideration.

Mark McCormick, Killingworth
