Letter to the Editor: Healthcare, a Human Right

Christine Palm is the healthcare candidate. Representative Palm voted to cap the cost of insulin and diabetic supplies so essential to many, including my brother who has had type 1 diabetes for 35 years. She has also fought to extend telehealth services, which are crucial to him, and others, with high-risk conditions. Telehealth allowed my brother to avoid potentially dangerous visits to his physicians during the onset of the Covid pandemic. Representative Palm also voted against price gouging by pharmaceutical companies, which protects individuals who require medications for other disorders. This was a vote for all individuals and their families who have been burdened by the high costs of medication.

As a self-employed single mother, I have relied on state programs such as HUSKY and Access CT to meet the medical needs of my family. It is comforting to know that my representative, Christine Palm, is a tireless advocate for accessible and affordable healthcare. She understands that the need to support these programs is more vital than ever during the Covid pandemic. Too many families will face the threat of unemployment and the loss of their health insurance.

Christine Palm is a compassionate and dynamic leader who gets things done. She cares deeply about those in her district, is committed to improving healthcare services, and will continue to advocate for us and protect us. We need more legislators like Representative Palm. She gets the job done and deserves to be re-elected.
