Letter to the Editor: BOE candidates should be required to answer questions

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper. We welcome supporting or opposing views on any published item. Received October 21, 2021.

To better understand and evaluate the personal philosophy of the Board of Education Candidates and to prevent any “problems” in our community in the near future, each candidate should be required to answer the two following YES or NO questions:

  1. Would you support, in any manner, the inclusion of Critical Race Theory in any of our classrooms? YES or NO.
  2. If NO, and you change your mind to supporting it while in office, would you resign? YES or NO.

One candidate in Killingworth has already indicated she would support CRT in our schools but we do not know if the others support or reject this “Theory”.
