LaMark Muir Endorsed as Democratic Candidate for General Assembly

(May 17, 2024) — Renee LaMark Muir, a longtime resident of Deep River, has been officially endorsed as the Democratic candidate for Connecticut’s 36th State House District.

LaMark Muir will bring with her to Hartford decades of experience in legislative policymaking and analytics, and a deep connection to communities within the 36th District, which includes Chester, Deep River, Essex and Haddam.

“I am thrilled to have earned the endorsement of our local DTCs and I look forward to running an engaging, issues- based campaign. As a lifelong Democrat, I am a firm believer in Democratic values and the idea that government can be a force for good in all of our lives. With my professional experience developing policies that are innovative and cost effective, I know that I can bring about positive change for our communities. I am ready to do the hard work and I am ready to lead.”

LaMark Muir is a longtime, active member of the Lower Connecticut River Valley community. Prior to serving for seven years as a homicide detective for the Hartford Police Department, she spent two decades as a principal analyst at the Connecticut General Assembly Program Review and Investigations Committee. She is currently retired, living in Deep River, where she is active in politics and works as a consultant at the Institute of Municipal and Regional Policy at the University of Connecticut.
