HVFC Responds: To Tropical Storm Elsa’s Damage

By Olivia Drake, HVFC.

(July 10, 2021) On July 8-9, Tropical Storm Elsa brought an abundance of rain and wind to Connecticut, which caused severe flooding and damage to areas in Haddam. During the two-day period, HVFC responded to 10 incidents including four downed trees, wires, and electrical pole fires; three fire or CO detector alarms; and one motor vehicle accident.

Pictured, at 12:30 p.m. on July 9, crews were dispatched to Meeting House Road for a downed trees and wires incident. Crews blocked the road to ensure the public’s safety until Eversource secured power in the lines.
